Job Description for a Church External Volunteer Facilitator

This person would:

  1. Build and maintain relationships with local ministries and nonprofits outside of the congregation, primarily with the volunteer coordinators.
  2. Determine the organizations’ needs for on-going Skilled-Based Volunteers (SBV’s), as opposed to episodic unskilled volunteers. Obtain simple job descriptions.
  3. Publicize those needs within the congregation, through the electronic newsletter, displays, pre-service slide roll, personal appeals, and even a volunteer fair.
  4. Identify volunteers and connect them with the organizations’ volunteer coordinators.
  5. Collect hours through a quarterly follow-up with each organization’s volunteer coordinator. All of them keep records of volunteer hours and most of them keep records of performance.
  6. Recognize the results, including volunteer tasks, time invested, and, most importantly, impact.
